The little show that could...

Could Little Mosque on the Prairie be Canada's next big export? Some ppl seem to think so, but only time will tell.

There have been few television shows that have made it big in the U.S. or even attracted this much media attn. There's The New Degrassi (which is def inferior to the original), but that's only on a kid's cable network in the U.S. Then there's Da Vinci's Inquest, but that's only in syndication and airs at ridiculous hours. However, doing extremely well in comparison to other syndicated shows.

I'd like to see CBC actually succeed at developing a new TV show. We seem to be great at producing news programming - whether it's actually news or mock-news - but just can't get anything else off the ground.

Hope the hype for the show continues - frig... even CNN has a story! Would love to catch it & see if it lives up to the hype, but I have no electricity @ home... again... for the third time in a week. DAMN YOU BC HYDRO!

Oh so purty

& oh, do I ever want it. This coming from a gal who absolutely is in love w/ the cell she currently has and doesn't actually own an iPod!

Anyway, look how pretty the new iPhone is & the interface looks fantabulous! Check out the vid below that illustrates how to use it to make a call. I wonder how much it retails for... Granted, I'm sure everyone and their goat will have one w/in the next two yrs ago, which in the end will downplay my enthusiasm for it.

The awards season has descended...

But before we get into that... more importantly, the OC has been cancelled. If this had happened last yr, I'm sure I wouldn't be as affected as I actually dreaded watching the show on most occasions when my TV just happened to be tuned to it and I skipped more than 1/2 the season. But Schwartz vowed to "revamp" the show and bring it back to the glory of its heydays - the first season. & I've gotta admit, I've become quite attached to the show again, now that Marissa is dead. It's gotten... "cute" again.

Plus a nice little good-bye msg from Maureen from The Watcher. Couldn't agree any more w/ her comments & thoughts on the show.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand... (now that I think about it, I should've done two separate entries... but I'm too lazy to do that now. ;) ) Award season is upon us! The questionable Hollywood Foreign Press came out w/ their nods for the Golden Globes last year (seriously... Beyonce as a candidate for best actress? Are you kidding me!?) and the Screen Actors Guild just came out w/ their list this morning.

Will Smith - The Pursuit of Happyness
Forest Whitaker - The Last King of Scotland
ed. note: have had a big ole crush on this guy since he played Sean on Breaker High... OK, so I liked Scott Vickaryous more, but you get the drift. But he's been getting a lot of Oscar buzz for this role & while I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm sure it's well deserved. He's Cdn afterall & isn't that a good enough reason?
