Is blogging too mainstream?

I remember two years ago, if one mentioned they had a "blog," the majority of ppl would have no idea what the hell you were talking about. Today, it's become so mainstream that some bloggers are "celebrities" in their own, i.e. Perez Hilton. Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid Perez reader, but does anyone else find it weird that major networks, such as CNN, quotes him?

It's kind of funny, even a mere year ago, I would always discuss how we could use the Internet and blogging as part of our public relations strategies, but no one seem to be on the bandwagon as much as I was. Now, there seems to be an article every two days in major dailies about how blogging has impacted the way advertisers and companies are planning ad campaigns, etc.

Is blogging getting too big for its own britches? My brother used to have a blog, years ago, way before blogging was "cool". He now refuses to keep one as it seems that everyone & their pets have a blog to discuss their personal lives, etc.

Then there's the phenomenom of MySpace. Not totally sure what the background is exactly, but Fox has some relationship w/ it and now... there's going to be a movie based on teens & their use of MySpace...
The dark comedy Normal Adolescent Behavior looks at sexual politics and the use of MySpace among privileged teens. Amber Tamblyn, Kelly Lynch, Kelli Garner and Daryl Sabara star in the film written and directed by Beth Schacter.

So much entertainment news...

that I dont' know what to do w/ myself.

It's been a mad couple of months and an even crazier weekend. As work has taken up, pretty much, 85 per cent of my free time, I haven't had much time to procrastinate & I usually use my weekends for downtime AWAY from the computer. Plus, as I was sharing an office w/ 5 other ppl for a while, couldn't exactly blog, if you know what I"m saying! ;)

Still want to blog about a concert that I went to a whiles back and the Emmy nods, but that'll havta wait for another day. But onto more exciting news...

It was a very sad day in Y's homestead when the news dropped that Arrested Development was no longer. No more inappropriate use of sexual innuendo. No more NO TOCAR. No kissing cousins. No Europe's Final Countdown song. No more of Ron Howard's soothing drawl providing us commentary on the Bluth's adventures and mishaps. & most importantly, no more "never nude" references. *sigh* However, Maeby has told TV Guide that there's the possibility of a movie!? How excited am I?

Didn't realize that *SO* many ppl were actually *that* excited about the release of the Pirates of the Carribbean sequel. I saw that there were even midnight screenings in Vancouver! :O While I liked the first one, I wasn't really all *that* impressed w/ it. But what an box office intake on opening weekend! Media was talking about how impressive it was & how it beat Spiderman, but really, more importantly, it beat the opening of Aquaman! ;)

While I hate the idea of a remake and hated it even more after watching the "first" season, the U.S. version of The Office has now become one of my favourite shows. Love the relationship b/n Jim and Pam. Plus, I have a lil ole crush on Jim myself! & Dwight Shrute... gawd, he's quite the character! Anyway, it sounds like some of hte UK counterparts will be making an appearance during the third season of the U.S. version of The Office. No confirmation whether they will be playing new characters or their original characters. How exciting would it be to see a Gareth and Dwight face off!? :O

On another note, looks like some U.S. networks has decided to continue w/ the tradition of ripping remaking successful UK shows. Next on the list are The Mighty Boosh and Saxondale. Not sure how well The Mighty Boosh will translate. I personally think the show is hilarious, but can understand why some North Americans wouldn't get it. For eff's sake, ppl can't even get into Arrested Development...
