Because we will have SUCH a different prespective

So, G&M is reporting that there is a new entertainment show making its appearance in Canada - Entertainment Tonight-Cdn Edition.

Ok, so it's being hosted by Cheryl Hickey - that's one point. If it was good ole Ben Mulroney, that would be a -10.

-5 pnts for being modelled after the U.S. ET. I used to be a diehard, nothing-will-stop-me-from-watching-ET kinda gal, but it's just too blah now. Too much human interest, scandal type stories. I don't care about Scott Peterson. Tell me how Brad fell in love w/ Angelina for gawd sakes! ;)

However, the show would've been +5 if it was modelled after Access HOllywood. They've would've scored an extra 3 pnts if they had the Cdn version of my b/f Billy Bush! ;)

The article says that the Cdn version of ET will provide a "unique Cdn perspective" and more stories on Cdns in Hollywood. Umm... not too how a Cdn perspective on Hollywood is different from the Americans. Well, except for the fact that we hate George Bush more. & more stories on Cdn celebs! OH... the EXCITEMENT! That means all the segments will be about Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams (which I might add, who I actually do like), Ryan Reynolds & Alanis Morrisette & the obligatory interview w/ Eric McCormick!

Wow.. I'm holding w/ baited breath for this new show!

The lights dim... exit stage left...

Much Music's franchise, aka Rick the Temp, aka Rick Campanelli said good bye to the viewers today. 11 yrs after joining Much as the Temp and 9.5 yrs after being officially inducted into the Much Music VJ-dom, Rick has closed this chapter of his life.

It was a lil weird watching the footage from his last 9 & 1/2 yrs at Much. It's actually kinda sad that I've watched that much Much. While I probably did have a crush on the guy when I was 16, I can't say that I was a big fan of his. I thought he tried a lil too hard at times & I thought he was a HORRIBLE interviewer. GAH!

But what an illustrious career he's had. I'll admit it... I've always wanted his job. Free CDs, free concerts, getting meet a menagerie of celebrities... PLUS, the MMVAs!

I can't say that I'll miss Rick, especially since his presence on the network has been minimalized over the past yr, but as all good-bye shows, this one was like the others - it def pulled @ my heartstrings. But then, I am a sucker for that sorta stuff. All the old VJs recorded a lil msg for him, including my b/f, George. ;)

Turns out that Jennifer Hollett's last day at Much was today too... The saddest part of their departure? The fact that I'll be stuck w/ Matte Babel on the tube... *shudder*

I know that I often wonder what happened to ppl that I went to jr. high and high school w/. What are they doing now? Are any of them in jail? & most importantly, are those ppl said that htey were going to pursue an acting career, actually doing it?

Could you imagine, if someone you had dated back in the day is now a celebrity? Could you imagine if the person you had dated has been listed as Maxim's 2nd sexiest female? Well Christopher Hutsul of the TO Star did... & in Abbotsford of all cities! Too bad he doesn't remember much from that date!

Oh & would you believe that her given name is Nicole Lilly? Tres weird!

They keep coming & coming

Much thanks to my bro for turning me onto music, such as Metric, Stars, Broken Social Scene and Feist, that I probably would not have tune into otherwise. However, damn him for turning me onto these bands as most of them are all coming back to Vancouver for another show - which is def gonna put a damper on my goddamn pocket!

It's been a couple of yrs since I've been to so many concerts! I'm not Hanson or even Val, you know! ;) Plus, Jason Mraz should be hitting Vancouver some time this fall, there's Gwen Stefani, who's sure to cost upwards of $70 for good seats *&* The Killers were just announced. But holy shizzle! $52!?! At the Coliseum??? GAR!!!!

FYI for y'all - pre-sale for The Killers starts tomorrow.

Finally... a celebrity "encounter"!

I've been meaning blog about my celebrity "encounter" since it happend last Friday, but life has continued be to *slightly* crazy. Working an average of 12 hours/day. Yesterday I clocked over 13, but lucky me, I was allowed to expense a cab ride home. Oh.. .the luxury of not having to sit on the #160 & have some perv trying to look up my skirt. Good times!

Anyway, it's been a while since I've had my last celebrity "encounter" (I quote encounter as I've never ever really speak to these ppl, just walk by in awe or in the case of Justin Trudeau, gawking w/ my mouth opened & possibly drooling... too much info, huh? ;) ) I was thinking back on who I have seen in the past yr & it's def nobody exciting! Unless you count big EAC boss man, John Schappert... :
Gil Bellows & the man from Brussells Jean Claude Van Damme - both @ work functions oddly enough. My big year of celebrity encounters was definitely 2003… in a matter of 4 months, I saw Justin Trudeau, Ben Mulroney, K-OS and Sum 41.

You can imagine my jealousy when I read that Val had a celebrity encounter w/ Jesse Metcalfe, my beloved Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald from Passions (really, it's just their names that I like - Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald... Crap, I just admited that I'm a closet Passions fan, haven't I? Pls don't judge me! ;) ) I kept thinking, why is it that I, someone who actually follows who's in town, filming what, etc, never get to see anyone? Finally things have turned my way!

My bro managed to get us some free nosebleeders to the Foo Fighters. The show was pretty good despite our shit ass seats. What was really cool was that you got to ppl watch, which I love! Anyway, after the show, we let the audience filter out before we left the Coliseum. Right after we left the main doors, I looked to my left & saw some dude. I thought, "That guy's kinda cute, kinda latino looking... kinda... Jesse Metcalfe!?!" After getting a second opinion from my bro, and then seeing a whole bunch of girls pointing at him, I got my confirmation that it was him. Woo hoo!

Ok... really long rant for such a boring story... my bad! ;)

*editor's note* as you can tell by the date, I started drafting this on Aug. 11... it's now Aug. 23! Gotta love the crazy hours @ work!

The next instalment of Da Vinci...

W/ work being mondo busy, I haven't had much time to blog. There have been things that have come up that made me think, "I should really blog about that." But instead, I'm blogging about Da Vinci - no, not the Da Vinci Code - but Da Vinci's Inquest.

I'll admit it... I've only seen one or two eps of this Cdn produced show about this crime fighting/solving detective, losely based the real life of Mayor Larry Campbell. More interestingly, how are they going to make captivating eps on the upcoming Da Vinci's City Hall?

& if that show is also a success, I think the third instalment will be called Da Vinci's Seat in Senate - as it looks like Mr. Larry Campbell was *just* given that illustrious post!

Congrats Larry! Looking fwd to seeing what kind of shite he can stir up in Ottawa! =)
