My mom said I could!

Ok... so I'm procrastinating @ work. I can't help it. The document I'm working on is not something that I'm thoroughly enjoying, to say the least. Ugh.

Anywho, came across this TBS link from Lost Remote. Looks like TBS is trying to find the top 3 funniest commercials from this batch of ten. Quickly watched 'em all, but not sure if any of them are really all that funny... What do you think? If I was going to vote though... I'd go w/ the Hansaplast Condoms.

I don't know if any of you have any seen those shows where they air foreign commercials - but US commercials are so lame compared to them. I just find European ads to be that much more creative, intelligent and funnier. I know that there must be some site out there that is dedicated to foreign commercials. Does anyone know of any?

Flying high!

I'm sure 80% of all children, at one pnt in their life, had wanted to join the circus. Perhaps you once thought that you were gonna run away and be the sword swallowing gal, or the best trapeze artist that there is.

Now's your chance!!!! The National Circus School is holding auditions across Canada in Feb. 2005.

Could you imagine being a part of a circus? It looks like it could be a whole shiteload of fun! Granted, after watching Cirque du Soleil's Fire Within, I'm not so sure about that anymore.

He can run, but he can't hide!

Ben Affleck that is. Seriously, you can't go a week w/out seeing/reading about him in the media!

For instance, this past weekend, Lynn McNamara, who writes the Hollywood North gossip column for the Vancouver Sun, reported that some British rag said that Ben was spotted playing gay bingo @ The Odyssey.

ed. note I *SO* wanna do that! But I sure ain't gonna get mentioned in the paper.

Anyhow, now MSN reports that Ben will not be making a guest appearance at Degrassi High when Kevin Smith is there. Does he not realize that not showing on could be career suicide!?! ;)

This appearance could *SO* revive his career after all those flops. *cough* *cough* X'mas *cough* movie *cough*

Shock & amazed!

W/ the job that I have in PR, whenever I or one of my colleagues comes across an article about media, we send it the everyone in the office. I got a CP Wire article about my favourite Much Music VJ leaving... FOR CBC NEWSWORLD!?!?!?!?

Not sure if anyone's heard yet, but that's right... George Stroumboulopoulos (try spelling that w/out looking at his bio or an article on him!), the feisty and intellectual media personality that he is (& someone who I always thought was too smart for Much... sorry Moses!) is leaving the mostly youth targeted channel for the public/private sponsored network.

How excited am I!?! Although most of the people I work w/ don't like the CBC, I gotta admit, I love their informational programming. Don't necessarily believe they should've spent $2 million dollars in order (OK, that price tag might be a smidge high... but it was a ridiculous price iirc) to allow the Cdn public to have access to the mini-series. Anywho, come mid-January, George will be seen 4x a week on an "hour-long, personality-driven look at issues currently resonating with the Canadian public," on Newsworld.

Side note: His Greatest Cdn is still ranked at number 1!!!!

Who Wants To Marry Ashley MacIsaac

You sure come across some interesting stories/articles when you read the news as part of your job!

I'm sure someone does, but I definitely don't. Obviously, his plans will make a lot of noise. However, I'm wondering if he will actually go through w/ it. I mean, this is obviously being done for a shock value and to send a msg, but at the same time, is there someone who's willing to take that next step?

Fiddler Ashley MacIsaac wants to wed man in Alberta
The Observer (Sarnia)

Source: Canadian Press

CALGARY (CP) -- Ashley MacIsaac, the outspoken, frequently controversial fiddler from Cape Breton, says he wants to get married in Alberta to protest the Conservative government's opposition to gay marriage.
There are, however, a few holes in MacIsaac's plan to tie the knot at the Banff Springs Hotel -- mainly the absence of anybody to share his nuptials.
"I'm not entirely sure who it's going to be," MacIsaac said in an interview. "Maybe a boy from Alberta.
"I asked someone to marry me this week, but it was a little too soon for him."
MacIsaac, 29, has a new album on the horizon but seemed more interested in entering Alberta's political fray when he called the Calgary Herald this week.
"I plan on having the largest gay wedding that Canada's ever seen," he said. "And I'm trying to get a TV company to produce Who Wants To Marry Ashley MacIsaac as a reality show."
MacIsaac, who claimed to be smoking marijuana during the interview, said he would invite Alberta's premier, whomever that might be after Monday's provincial election.
"If it's Ralph Klein, he probably won't show up . . . I'd love to have him make a toast," he said.
The Supreme Court has been asked to review draft legislation from the federal government that would make same-sex marriages legal across Canada. Alberta was the only province to argue against same-sex marriage in that reference.
Recently Saskatchewan became the seventh jurisdiction in Canada to legalize gay marriage.
Last week, Klein said a decision on the issue in Alberta may ultimately rest with voters.
"If Albertans tell me -- I've not asked them to tell me -- but if they do, spontaneously, tell me they want to do something differently, I'll listen," he said during a campaign stop.

I'm so excited...

& I just can't hide it. Everyone, sing it w/ me!!!

Anywho, if you thought that I was overly excited about the Sweet Valley High DVD, dude & dudettes, I'm WAY more excited about the Degrassi Jr. High announcement!

I believe that one of my favourite directors, Kevin Smith will also be quite pumped about this announcement. IF you didn't know, he's a GIGANTOR fan of the original show *&* the New Generation. Here's a little ditty about his love & his "suprise" appearance in the season finale.

Elizabeth & Jessica on DVD!

Before Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen were the "hottest" twins in the entertainment world, it was the '90s version of the Double Mint twins - Brittany and Cynthia Daniel. You may recognize Brittany from prestigious movies such as, White Chicks, Club Dread and Joe Dirt.

Anywho, the two twins then went on to become the Sweet Valley High twins, Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. Any female in their mid-20s MUST remember this series of books by Francine Pascal! If not... then you must've been a geek and totally out of the loop. ;)

Sadly enough, I'll admit it... I used to be a fan of the show. How could you not? The Jeremy Garrett played Todd & I thought he was cute. ;) It seems like any and every show is now coming on DVD as you can imagine my surprise when I was at Sweet Valley High - The Wakefield Twins is coming out!

Oh & if you're wondering, no, I will not be getting it. It's one thing to get Saved by the Bell, which was such an institution, but Sweet Valley? ;)

Perhaps worst job... but it helps pay the bills

I'm not sure if I agree w/ Kim's comment that the worst job in the world possibly could be being Britney's publicist.

Granted, it would probably be a pain in the arse to be her publicist due to all the phone calls (but @ the same time, that means either she or Britney is doing her "job"). However, if you think of it from a PR agency/firm perspective... dude, the publicist is RAKING in the ching ching for all the hours she has to commit to this one client! ;)

My... how we have evolved

Got this pic from my boss.

All I's gosta say LMFAO! That mofo is BIG!!!

Veronica Mars = Buffy?

Not sure whether I agree w/ the comparison, mostly due in part to the fact that I rarely watched Buffy. After it was moved off the WB, I either couldn't figure out when it was airing on a Cdn channel or it was on at the same time as another one of my "must see" shows.

I'm actually quite surprised that I'm even watching this show... it's on UPN. I seriously can't even tell you when the last time was that I watched that channel. Even being the huge fan of America's Next Top Model, I had never seen it on UPN, saw the re-runs/syndicated eps on Life Network.

Anywho... long story short, check out this article on Veronica Mars. It is quite the smart show! :)

Typecasted as a hobbit

I'm not sure about you, but I'm not sure how one gets typecasted as a hobbit. I don't think there are very many roles out there for hobbits other than the LOTR trilogies and perhaps The Hobbit. Interesting article nonetheless. & did I mention that Lost is one of my favourite new shows of the year? You can't go wrong when it's a JJ Abrams' show!

A new day

Hmm... that title makes me wanna belt out a Celine Dion tune. What's even more sadder, in the minds of many of you, is that I know the tune of her newer songs.

Anywho, yesterday was a pretty dang depressing day for the majority of Cdns. But then, perhaps I'm over exaggerating. Maybe it was only a somber day for my family and my office. Can't say that any of us were too pleased when we got up to find out that it was still uncertain whether it was Bush or Kerry who won Ohio. Things didn't get much better when we got the news alert that Kerry had conceded. The only question I have is, why are Americans so damn stupid?

W/ that said, I guess I should explain before I get a bombardment from all the Americans reading this (granted, I don't think anyone is even reading this). I just can't understand how so many Americans can truly believe that Bush has been doing a good job for the U.S. It's unconceivable to me. The man has proven time after time that he's not a good leader and yet this time around, the dude got more votes than he did when he ran against Gore. Is it because Bush is against gay marriage & Kerry is for? If that was the deciding factor... I just don't have any words. UGH.

But as I had started saying... it is a brand new day today. Why? Well, one of my favourite shows premieres tonight! The OC!!!! How long will Ryan stay in Chino? Why does Marissa flip out on her mom & chucks the lounge chair into the pool? Who is Seth staying w/ in Oregon? I'm thinking it's Luke. OH... the excitement!

Alternatives to the election

My real question is... why would you be looking for an alt to the election? This is going to be one EXCITING night! Granted, I will admit that I am ashamed that I am 200 times more excited about the US election then the recent Cdn federal election. :(

Not shooting any of the shows mentioned in the article, but come on now! Gilmore Girls or Bush making a stupid comment. Veronica Mars or Kerry hugging some celebrity?
