Two of my favourite things combined!

No, it's not chocolate & cereal, like my friend KT. & I must say, those 2 def make a GREAT combo when the final result is a rice crispy square w/ chocolate on top. Nummy! Actually, two of my fave things is the Wizard of Oz & the Muppets!

Well, news has it that the two will be combined to create... Muppets of Oz... or something along those lines. Yeah!

Screw being nice!

What's the pnt of being nice anymore? Seriously? Sure, it may give you the satisfaction of knowing that you were able to help someone who needed it. Sure, it may give you a high to help others, but why even bother? Some don't even appreciate it. Other times, you do something nice for someone & then later on in the day, someone else bites you in the ass.

Why so bitter you ask? My mother, brother & me went to Victoria over the weekend to check out the Egypt exhibit at the Royal BC Museum. I used to LOVE mummies etc, so I was stoked to be going. Anywho, we went, did the exhibit and seeing that we were starving, we walked a couple of blocks to the mall to have a lil lunchie. Well, while we were on our way back to the museum, I noticed that an elderly lady was having problems bringing her tray to a table. So I went out of my way to help her, seeing that no one else seemed to be willing to. Nice of me to do so, right? So, what's my problem? Nothing... w/ her that is.

After finishing the museum & seeing that it was raining, we didn't really wanna walk around downtown, so we were heading back to the mall. On the way there, we stopped off to get some gelatto. As we continued on our way to the mall, we were minding our own business, talking to each other when we crossed the street & I heard an elderly woman say to us, "Ugh... Chinese again!" The tone was *SO* condescending & rude, so I turned around & said, "EXCUSE ME!?!" She just continued walking, shaking her head. That just made me *SO* angry, so I yelled BITCH out to her. I'm sure there were tourists/residents thinking that I was crazy for yelling @ an elderly woman. But you know what? I don't care how old/young you are. If you're going to be racist, I"m gonna yell at you regardless.

Some ppl... ARGH!

What a goddamn hypocrite

I'll admit, I was a fan of his @ one point. You havta give him credit, he's done some good work (e.g. Chasing Amy, Good Will Hunting, Shakespeare in Love) Granted, he's done some really shitty work too, one that comes to mind was even made fun of in Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back.

Anywho, the dude recently bitched & ranted about how about "runaway productions". He even disclosed how he took a pay cut on a couple of his past movies in order to keep the productions in the US. Gee Ben, you're such a good citizen - infusing money back into the Hollywood economy! Ben even went as far as saying that studios that chose to shoot in countries like Canada are giving a "slap in the face" to the motion-picture workers based in Los Angeles. Dude… it's called saving $. Just because you're stinking rich & can throw your money around doesn't mean that everyone can. Besides, it's putting $ into the Canadian economy too & that's a "good thing".

HOWEVER, I just read recently that Affleck is gonna be in Vancouver soon. He's going to be in town to shoot Man About Town, starring Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino and Rebecca Romijin-Stamos. Plus, he was in town recently filming a cameo for Elektra.

Hmmm… wonder if he'll be heading to Brandi's when he's in town!?!

FINALLY!

Alright everyboday... all 2gether. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Canada has finally won it's FIRST medal!

My office buddy & I were just commenting on how crappy the Cdn team was doing. Hell... Thailand had 2 more medals than we did! Hopefully this medal will be the first of many. W/ that said & me being the pessimist that I am, I highly doubt it. I'm thinking that we'll be lucky if we break 10 medals. Here's to hoping that the rowing teams rack in a # & both Emilie Heyman & Alexandre Despatie win their respective sports.

Go Canada Go!

Boyband update!

If you know me in "real life", you would know that I used to be the hugest fan of boybands. You name the boyband, I most likely have heard of them *&* could even choose a member to be my "fave". Like who, you ask? Well, here are some examples (for fun & so you can pnt & laugh @ me!)

NKOTB - Joe McIntyre
BSB - Nick
*N Sync - JC
Westlife - one of the lead singer dudes
BoyZone - Ronan Keating
2gether - It's a toss up b/n Mickey & Chad (some of you know why... ;) )

Wow... that sure was fun, wasn't it? Anyway, I digress, once again. The latest update w/ the *N Stinkers is that T-Lake refuses to go back to the band! Granted, it shouldn't be that huge of a surprise to many. That boy's ego has gotten too big for his own good. Not that I'm crying about it. I can't stand T-Lake. The over saturation has gotten to me. Blech.

On the "other" side of the boyband spectrum, the BSB have been back together for the past 8 mos or so, recording a new album. One of their songs has already been leaked. What I find INCREDIBLY hilarious is the fact that they are jumping onto the reality TV bandwagon. They too will have their own reality show. Do *you* want to protect them from the throngs of adoring fans/boyband haters?

RIP Ms. Childs

When I was in my mid-teens, I remember sitting @ home on Saturday afternoons, tuning into PBS w/ my parents. We would watch cooking show, after cooking show, ranging from Graham Kerr to cooking w/ a monk. Included in our hours of cooking programming was Julia Child.

If you haven't heard yet, the formidable and timeless cook has passed away at the age of 91.

ARGH! Woe is me! :(

I love reading the local paper & seeing articles & blurbs on people I used to go to school with or just people that I know. Although it sorta makes me sad to realize that all of us are still living in this area. I personally feel the need to get the hell outta here.

As fun as it is to read about what people are up to now, it really irritates me when facts are WRONG. *Especially* when they involve me. This is going to sound petty, but I really don't care, it sorta threw me off when I first read it. One of my fellow high school grads has been performing on a improv team ever since we graduated six years ago. The group made the paper once again because now they are touring with some type of program, etc. So what this bugs me? Nothing. I'm not jealous. What bugs me is the fact the paper pointed out that he was student council president before graduating from our high school in 1998. Umm… how about NO HE WASN'T!

I was.

He didn’t stay after school two hours a week working on student council stuff. He didn't sell one single dance ticket or Spook-a-gram etc. Hell… he wasn't even on student council!

I know that this is an incredibly small thing to be making such a big deal out of it. However, it bugs me because I had invested so much time into my role, only to have it "taken" away from me by the local rag. :(

LOL

Rudy Boesch dished that one of his favorite reality shows, The Amazing Race, is trying to recruit him and Richard Hatch. He also told us about his encounter with another reality star: Boesch was in New York a couple years ago when a stranger asked to shake his hand. It turned out to be Donald Trump.

Could you imagine this!?! Although I wasn't too keen on the fact that Alison & Donny were on this yr's Amazing Race due to the fact that she was on Big Brother a couple of yrs back (you should only be allowed on one reality show if you ask me... spread the wealth!), this would be TOO funny to watch!

Coming soon to your DVD

Wow... I sure am on a blogging kick today! I guess it's all a part of procrastination... write a backgrounder or play around on the blog. ;)

Did a quick glance over all of my fave sites, including TVShowsOnDVD.com Looks like after much deliberation b/n all the stars, Seinfeld will finally appear as two volumes on DVD.

If you want more info on the set, check this site out:

What a crappy deal!

My fave reality game show? The Amazing Race. To this day, it saddens me to know that the bulk of America has not tuned into this show. The last thing I want is to see this exhilerating realistic show go down unknown. This "reality" show is by far the best of them all. They don't toy and manipulate people's emotions, psyches or lives to create good television programming. It's a true competition where endurance and street smarts are required. It's no Survivor where it's all about backstabbing and manipulation. Albeit, that show is an interesting watch @ times, but really, how often can you watch a show that is so repetitive? According to #'s… many of you can. Granted, the #'s has shown that the #'s have fallen significantly. Personally, aside from this past "All Stars" season, I haven't seen any shows after episode 3 of Season 3.

Anywho, I digress once again. What else is new? Anywho, last year I had read that Amazing Race was doing away with the Fast Forward and installing a new "thing" called the Yield where a team would be able to hold a team back for a given time. Not sure how that was going to work. However, since the season premiere, I haven't heard anything about it… BUT in this weeks ep, it was discovered that the Fast Forward is still in effect. Rather than having a Fast Forward in every ep, they now only have 2 (or was it 4) per season. However, on the other hand, the big twist of this season is that if you come in last in a non-elimination round, you now have to forfeit all the money you have. Not a huge deal, right? The teams would just havta be frugal for the next leg of the race. HOWEVER, the other twist is that they won't get ANY money during the next leg. That pretty much leaves 'em SOL. Eeks! However, gotta say that it def makes for interesting TV! =)

Crappola! Why? "Why???" I ask you!

A few years back, I was addicted to going to concerts. An act came into town, I was there (the majority of the time). Hell, I even shelled out $300 (split between 2 of us) to get a special membership with Ticketmaster so I could get tickets 3 days before tickets were released to the public. Granted, I wasn't allowed to go for seats closer than row 10, but row 10 was pretty damn good. I guess it was a good investment in a sense…

  1. I got good seats for every show seating

  2. I didn't havta get up early to buy tickets, only to yell at the computer while hitting redial on both my cell & home phone

  3. Getting tickets to a sold out show

I'm getting off track here. Anywho, one of my latest obsessions now is purchasing DVDs. The more extras, the better. It's amazing how the price for DVDs has dropped so drastically. It's great for my pocket, but yet, still such a piss off when I find out that the DVD I bought for $25 plus tax is now 2 for $30. ARGH. For instance, although I didn't purchase each Kevin Smith DVD for $25 (I got 'em for 2 for $40), every SINGLE one of 'em is now 2 for $30 or cheaper. If I knew that & waited, between my brother & I, we could've saved $25 plus tax. Now, you're saying… big whoop, that's not a lot of money. But think of it this way… if I had an extra $5 now, that would be another 2 DVDs I can get! ;)

I've been finding that aside from being addicted to DVDs, I'm drawn to TV show DVDs & man oh man, are there a whole poopload of 'em coming! I've refrained from getting the Party of Five set, but dude, there's 3 shows that are coming out soon that I need want. First off, Sliders was released on DVD TODAY, but damnit… can it cost anymore?

Future Shop is selling it for $73.99 & last week Amazon.ca was selling it for $69.99, but now the fuckers are selling it for $74.99. ARGH! I can't afford these! Not if I want to be able to pay for rent. :\

THEN, there's Arrested Development which comes out Oct. 19. I guess I have time to save up for that one. But then in December, The OC DVD comes out. If only my b-day was in the 2nd 1/2 of the year….
