US version of The Office just got better

<in a high pitched voice>COCK</voice> Tee hee... So, I'm a huge fan of the original The Office. It's smart and pointless, much like real life is. & while you love to hate the boss, you can't help but feel sympathy for him.

When I heard that NBC was coming out w/ the US version, I was a lil iffy about it... Think about it. How many movies are remade successfully? Some, but only a handful. & of course, how many television shows that are revamped/remade for the US mkt succeed? NBC's Coupling sure wasn't one of them.

My question was... after that failed experiment, what made them think they could make The Office a success? I was willing to give it a chance & while I watched the first season, which was only approx. 6 eps, I didn't like it. I didn't like Michael Scott... he seemed more sleasy & greasy than anything else. Watching the show actually hurt me more than anything. & I was aghast when I heard the show was renewed.

However, what a nice surprise it was when I started watching the 2nd season & actually liking it? The characters have been evolved more and the storyline encompasses more of the office characters now. It's a nice breath of fresh air compared to the typical sitcom.

*&* now, it's being reported that Ricky Gervais is actually going to WRITE an ep!!!! How excited am I?

Yes... a very long rant to just get one pnt across - what else is new? ;)
